Red Velvet Cake


IMG_1330Mom’s Recipe

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2  cup sugar

1 cup buttermilk

1 1/4 cup Wesson oil

2 eggs, slightly beaten

2 tsp. cocoa

1 tsp. baking soda

1 Tbsp vinegar

2 tsp. vanilla

1- 12 oz. bottle red food coloring

Mix wet ingredients and add dry and beat with mixer until just blended well do not over beat.

Pour in to 2- 9″ pans or 9/13 sheet pan and bake 350 degrees foe 30 to 40 min. or until toothpick  inserted in middle comes out clean.

Frost with favorite buttercream or cream chees icing.

Cream Cheese Icing

1- 8oz. cream cheese

1 stick butter

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp.  pure vanilla
