Yummy Caramel Apple Pie


5 Cups apples sliced thinly

1 tbsp. lemon juice

1/2 cup flour

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 stick butter

Mix apples and lemon juice toss together.

Mix all other ingredients together and toss together with apples.  Pour into 9 inch pie crust. ( It is ok to pile the apples as they will shrink in cooking) You can make your own crust if you like.( but if you don’t worry) 1-They have a jiffy crust mix out that works great for making the lattice stripes for the top of pie. 2-Or you can purchase pie crust in the butter section at your grocer. 3- you can mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup all purpose flour cut in 4 tbsp. butter and pour over top for crumb  top.

When pie is baked  drizzle caramel ice cream topping over top  while hot , when cools, drizzle a little more for garnish. Serve with scoop of vanilla ice cream or your favorite whipped topping. Hope you enjoy as much as my family.☺

Homemade pie crust

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1/ cup +2 tsp. vegetable shortening

4 tbsps. ice water.

Cut shortening into flour and salt, add 2 tbsp. and toss with a fork as not to toughen dough, add another tbsp. pick up some in your hand give a squeeze, if holds together good you are ready to shape. if you need you can add another tbsp. water.

roll out  and place in pie tin. Very flaky
