Starter for Herman Cake & Recipe

 My mom made this cake so many times and my daughter ask for it every year. Guess I will make this year

Starter for Herman Cake

1/4 cup sugar

2 cups warm water

1 env. yeast

Mix these 4 ingreients and place ina plasrio or glass container.

Lt stand overnight in a warm place. Cover loosly  Refrigerate . Stir every day for 5 days.

On the 5th day add:

1 cup flour

1 cup milk

1/2 cup sugar

repeat same procedure for next 5 days, stir everyday.

On the 10th day make the cake:

Herman Cake

2 cups flour

1 cup sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp.soda

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

2 eggs

2 cups Herman mixture

1/2 cup chopped nuts and /or risins

2 apples chopped

2/3 cups oil

Mix all together and beat med speed until well blended.Pour into 9/13

1 tbsp. flour

1 tsp. cnnamon

1/2 up brown sugar

1/2 stick butter

Pour over top of batteuse fork to swirl in batter.

Bake 350 for 30 to 45 min. Frost hot. We don;t frost ours
