Lemon says spring to me and yes I am pushing it, love spring when everything begins to wake up and start to get green and all the spring flowers and trees blooming it is  so beautiful. Love to get the camera out and hold the beauty. You just have to be thankful for all the beauty that God has created. We got a few more weeks to go ,but can so look forward.  Hope everyone is enjoying this day and cook something good.


1/2 cup butter

1 cup Crisco

2 1/2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1 cup buttermilk

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. soda

2 tsp. lemon extract and juice of I/2 lemon

In a Mixing bowl, add butter, shortening, sugar and  mix well.  Add the eggs 1 at a time and mix after each.  Add milf and flour alternately and add 1/2 tsp. soda mixed with 1 tsp. water. mix together and pour into a greased and floured tube pan

have oven preheated to 325. bake for 45 minutes to one hour or until done . Ovens vary in heating. Now to make this cake even more yum squeeze the other half of the lemon over cake and make glaze with lemon juice and zest of lemon, and drizzle over cake.
