Mom’s Prune Cake

This is kind of a dense cake ,but so moist and goes really well with a cup of coffee.


2 cups sugar

2 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp. all spice

1/2 tsp. nutmeg and cinnamon

Mix this all together.

Add 3 eggs

1 cup cooked prunes, Cooked until tender and mashed with a fork

1 cup veggie oil

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup buttermilk

1 cup nuts, optional

sift al together, then add eggs, prunes, sour cream and oil.

1 tsp. vanilla,

bake in 350 oven for about 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

Now for the yummy  that goes on top of cake

1 cup sugar

2 tsp. corn syrup,

1 stick butter and 1/4 cup buttermilk, cook to 225 degrees or  until soft ball stage. pour over cake while cake is still hot.

All this seeps down into cake and so so good …
