Southern Homemade Biscuits

What is better than a good country biscuit with some butter and molasses, I sure can’t think of anything at the time

Biscuits are good for any meal and almost anything. It took me a few years to get the hang of it. I can now make almost anything I want to. What I am trying to say , is if you try and try again and if you fail don’t give up try gain . Practice does make perfect.

1 1/2 cups, all purpose flour

good 1/2 cup shortening or Crisco

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 to 3/4 cup buttermilk

Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cut in the shortening

This is how it should look after mixing the shortening in.

Mix in the buttermilk and stir together just to get all wet and hold together

Pour out onto work surface. and just fold it over a few times without over mixing, until it is not sticky

Roll out to 3/4 inch high without mix more flour than you need

NOTE: the more flour you mix in the dough the tougher and drier it will be.

Place biscuits touching so they will rise and bake 400 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown.

Brush with butter and enjoy.
