Cheddar Biscuits and Bacon

IMG_3440

A yummy breakfast this morning with a cold glass of fresh squeezed orange juice Simple and easy.

2 cups SR flour

1  tsp. baking powder

1/2 cup Crisco

3/4 cup buttermilk or another 1/4 if needed. to have a wet dough.

add cheddar cheese however much you like . I used a handful for mine and was plenty cheesy for us.

Mix your dry ingredients together add shortening and with a fork mix until crumbly. Add buttermilk to form a semi wet dough. (the reason being is with a wetter dough the more moist and light your biscuit will be, providing you don’t over mix on counter with flour)  Now sprinkle about 3/4 cup flour over counter and just lightly fold over the dough just a few time and don’t press hard ,but until easy to handle. roll out or pat out with your hands and cut into biscuits. Bake in 400 degree oven for 12 to 15 min. or until golden brown. brush well with melted butter when you pull from oven. Enjoy
